MLB Tuesday Preview – Toronto vs Tampa Bay

Before baseball gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this weekend, we have the Tuesday MLB game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly baseball picks for online MLB betting action.

Season Record:
Toronto: 33-25 SU
Tampa Bay: 37-20 SU

Game Preview for June 8, 2010: Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays

With the World Cup betting picking up, the sports betting world has a lot of options to choose from for the next few weeks. The MLB betting is also picking up, and the Toronto Blue Jays are starting their annual power slide to the AL East basement.

Even without pitching ace Roy Halladay, the Blue Jays were still able to come out of the gate strong and launch into first place at the beginning of the season.

As the weeks wore on, the Tampa Bay Rays started their push and dropped the Blue Jays to their current status of 4 ½ games out of first place.

The Jays are still 8 games above .500 at 33-25, and they are riding a record of 6-4 in their last 10 games, but the huge dent that Halladay left in their starting rotation is beginning to take its toll.

The Tampa Bay Rays sit in first place in the AL East, holding a two game lead over the New York Yankees. The Rays are coming off of a win over the Texas Rangers, and the Blue Jays are coming off of a loss to the New York Yankees.

This first game of a three game series between the Rays and Jays will determine if the Blue Jays can kick-start their season, or if they are headed back to the AL East basement yet again.

When you bet on Celtics games in the NBA playoffs, you have to ignore how the Celtics played in the regular season.

The Celtics were healthy and ready for the playoffs, and that has put them in the NBA Finals. When you bet on Blue Jays games, it helps to take a look at their history and understand why the Jays have fallen from grace in recent seasons.

The Blue Jays team ERA has steadily fallen the past few weeks to the 4.08 level it is at now. But the Blue Jays have a rotation that is at the bottom of the league list for giving up home runs, and their bullpen is fourth in the league with 17 saves in 25 opportunities. The Blue Jays suffer from an inconsistent starting rotation.

The Jays have one of the worst team batting averages in the league at .245, but they have hit more home runs than any team in the league. The problem? There is no one on base when the Jays hit home runs.

But the Blue Jays have the ability to turn their season back around, but the challenge will be difficult against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are putting Jeff Niemann on the mound for this series opener. Niemann is 5-0 this season, but the last time he pitched was against the Blue Jays and he gave up two home runs.

If the Jays can get base runners on base when they bring out the power, then they can outscore the Rays.

Brian Tallet takes the mound for the Blue Jays, and his last start was against the Rays. He allowed no runs over 5 2/3 innings. The Jays have the right guy on the mound and are facing a pitcher they have had success against recently.
