The New York Yankees have hit their stride over the past couple months. The Yankees have taken a firm hold of the lead in the AL East with their red hot run, and they now also have the best record in baseball.

Matchup | Preview

Toronto comes into this one with a 45-45 record. Let’s take a look at this AL East matchup.

Toronto can put up the runs in bunches. The Blue Jays are third in the majors in runs scored per game at 4.97. The Blue Jays have 131 home runs this year as a team, which is second best in the majors.

Jose Bautista injured his wrist in Monday’s game while fouling off a pitch. He is listed as questionable for Tuesday night’s game. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Clearly, this offense needs Bautista in the middle of the order. He started the season slowly, but he has been the hottest hitter in the American League over the past month. Toronto is only a .500 team because they are 26th in the majors in ERA. Brett Cecil starts this one, and he is 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA in five starts this year.

New York won the series opener last night when Raul Ibanez hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth. The Yankees have 144 home runs as a team.

They are number one in the majors in that category. New York has seven guys on their roster with at least 11 home runs already this season. Robinson Cano is crushing the baseball right now. After a slow start, he has a .321 average and 55 RBI’s.

Derek Jeter’s resurgence has helped set the table for the middle of the order this year. C.C. Sabathia has been out with a strained groin. The Yankees will be glad to get their Ace back for this one.

Cecil hasn’t shown the ability to get hardly anyone out this year, and the Yankees lineup is stacked.

I don’t like laying huge numbers, but I like the run line in a matchup like this.

Look for the Yankees to coast in this one.
