Zack Greinke (Royals)

You may be thinking I’m a bit crazy, but I’m not going by the numbers I’m going by the $ he has lost his bettors as of late. He got hit really hard by the Blue Jays in his last outing, but in his last 4 he has won just 2 of the 4. You can’t go 2-2 with a dominant pitcher on the mound.

The 2-2 record came in a span where Greinke was hot so the line was inflated costing bettors $200+ to win back $100. One loss cost three wins to show a profit. This is the reason I personally do not bet on anything over -170 which is the limit. Even then you have to be certain that the team you are picking has a 90% shot at winning.

Todd Wellemeyer (Cardinals)

The Cardinals broke out of their slump last night scoring 13 runs, but will it be enough for Wellemeyer to get it going? In his last 3 starts he has a 1-2 record with a 5.71 ERA and he is struggling along with the Cardinals. We think the Cardinals recent outbreak might be a sign of things to come.

Wellemeyer should be pumped up to go here against the Marlins who he had success against last year. Wellemeyer has two career starts against the Fish. He pitched @ Florida in August going 7.2 innings allowing only three hits and zero earned runs. He returned less than a month later for a home start going 8 innings pitched allowing five hits and three earned runs.

I would not be shocked if Wellemeyer has a nice bounce back start here today against the Fish. It will be the first game today at 12:10pm et and he’ll go up against Andrew Miller.

Probable Hot Pitchers on Thursday:

Edwin Jackson (Tigers)

Verlander pitched a complete game to go 7-0 in his last 7 starts. However, the Tigers have two studs in their rotation with Jeremy Bonderman coming back this week would make three!

Jackson has been nothing, but dominant with a 6-3 records and 2.16 ERA. In his last 6 outings he has a 1.40 ERA and is 5-1. He has an amazing K:BB ration over that period of 34:9.

Bet at 5Dimes

Last weekend he pitched a complete game against the Angels allowing just 1 ER on 4H.

Worth noting: Jackson will pitch on the road here today where he has been stronger than at home. He has a 1.31 ERA on the road compared to his 3.00 ERA at home. He will also get the day start at 2:05 pm et, but he has pitched much better at night than the day. During the day he has a 2.86 ERA and at night he comes in with a 1.91 ERA.

David Price (Rays)

Is it too early to call him a hot starter? He has back to back 100 pitch outings, only going 5.2 innings but only allowing 1 ER. He had 11 K’s vs. the Twins in a win and an impressive performance vs. the Yankees getting the win as a dog of +185. That certainly got my attention.

He’ll have another tough match up here today against the Angels at home. This time he is the favorite at -136.

Nick Blackburn (Twins)

Blackburn has accounted for 33% of the Twins Indians wins when he pitches on the road. The Twins have been god awful on the road with a 9-19 record while Blackburn has been quite consistent. He posts a 3.48 ERA in 7 GS with a 3-2 record compared to his 3.06 home ERA.

On the season he has a 5-2 record with a 3.30 ERA and he is quickly becoming the ace. In his last four outings he has a 1.33 ERA. He recently faced the Mariners where he allowed 1 ER in 7IP.

Blackburn has two outings in his career vs. the Atheltics. Both starts came in August the first one was a home start where he lasted 8IP gave up six hits and three earned runs. The second start was in Oakland where he went 5.2IP gave up six hits and two earned runs.
