Two of the best teams in the American League clash this Friday night when the AL West-leading Texas Rangers take on the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians in the second of a four-game weekend series. Game time from Progressive Field in Cleveland is set for 7:05 p.m. and it will be available on MLB TV.

Texas comes into this series with seven wins in its last 10 games and an overall record of 30-26. It took two of three from the Blue Jays in Toronto earlier in the week to help improve its record on the road to 11-15. The Rangers are 18-14 as a favorite this season and 12-12 as an underdog.

The Texas lineup, aided by the return of Josh Hamilton, continues to belt out the runs as it has averaged seven runs in its last six games. The Rangers are now ranked fifth in the American League in runs scored with 259. Alexi Ogando will get the start for Texas on Friday night. He is a perfect 5-0 on the year with an ERA of 2.33. His last time out was not one of his best efforts as he only lasted six innings; giving up seven hits and five earned runs against Kansas City.

Cleveland has cooled a bit with a 5-5 record in its last 10 games, but still leads Detroit in the division by five games. The Indians are an AL-best 33-20 overall and 19-6 at home. They are 14-4 as a favorite and 19-16 as an underdog.

The play of Asdrubal Cabrera this season has much to do with Cleveland’s early success. He leads the team with 67 hits, 39 RBI, and 10 home runs. The Indians are ranked fourth in the AL in runs scored with 262. Justin Masterson will be on the mound for Cleveland. He is 5-3 in 11 starts this year and has a 3.07 ERA and a WHIP of 1.27. His last start was forgettable as well; giving up eight hits and six earned runs in a loss to Tampa Bay.

This will be the first meeting between these two this season, but Texas had the edge last year; winning four of six overall and two of three on the road. The total stayed ‘under’ in four of the games.

Both pitchers are coming off a rough outing, but stick with Masterson to get the best of this matchup to give Cleveland the win.
