It was a rare occurrence but the Rangers jumped all over the A’s last night in their series opener at Oakland.

The win pushed them to .500 which is pretty amazing given the injuries this team has had to contend with all season long. Texas scored 14 runs last night fueled by 4 homers from the 6, 7 and 8 hitters.
Those made up for the fact that they got yet another mediocre performance from starter Colby Lewis and the bullpen was nothing special either.

About the only time you can be sharp with Texas is when Yu Darvish is on the mound. He can shut down any lineup but he has struggled with Oakland this season – two starts, 7ER in 9 innings.
A’s first baseman Brandon Moss has clobbered Darvish with 4 homers in just 20 at bats. I don’t have all the numbers but there might not be anybody better than that.

Darvish is not automatic against Oakland.
Oakland
The A’s will be looking to do their usual bounce back after losing a homer filled game to Texas last night. It was good that top power hitters Brandon Moss and Yoenis Cespedes went yard but their normally tight pitching was like a sieve on Monday.
In a weird twist Oakland has lost all 4 of its home games against the Rangers this season. They are still cruising along atop the AL West but their cushion over the Angels seems to be softening a bit each week.
Tom Milone may not wow with stuff but he gets the job done.
The A’s have won his last 5 starts and he is one of the most consistent pitchers in the AL right now having given up more than 3ER just once since May 1. At home he has an ERA under 2 and the big difference is that he keeps the ball in the park.
Texas is pretty devoid of power threats right now anyway so Milone can be a pretty solid bet.
It is odd that the road team has won every single game between these two teams this season. Even though the Rangers will have their ace on the mound this evening I think that trend will change as Tom Milone will be able to stifle the Rangers after last night’s explosion.
There is good value with Oakland too.
