Cardinals vs Tigers MLB Betting + Handicapping Picks

St. Louis started the season red hot, but they have fallen back to the .500 mark with a poor last month of play. Detroit dug a pretty deep hole in the AL Central, but they are slowly trying to fight their way back toward the top of the division.

These two Midwest teams will play the second game of this series Wednesday evening on ESPN2.

The Cardinals jumped out to a big lead in the NL Central at the beginning of the season, but they have quickly fallen back to earth. Injuries have been a major problem for this club. Jon Jay, Lance Berkman, and Matt Carpenter are all out of the lineup.

The offense has still managed to pile up the runs quite nicely. St. Louis is second in the majors in batting average and fourth in runs scored per game. Yadier Molina is having a career season at the plate. He leads the team with a .324 average. Jake Westbrook was one of the best pitchers in the league in the first month, but he has been terrible of late.

Westbrook has a 5.82 ERA in his last three starts. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Detroit is trying to creep back into the AL Central race. A lot of people are very low on this team right now, but there is still plenty of time for them to get back to the top in this division. Prince Fielder has been very solid in his first season with the Tigers. Fielder and Cabrera form a lethal combination in the middle of the batting order.

The rest of the lineup hasn’t performed up to expectations, but they have come on quickly of late. Austin Jackson needs to stay healthy and keep hitting well at the top of the order for this Tigers team to meet its full potential.

Rick Porcello is 4-4 with a 5.18 ERA this season.

Both offenses are solid, but this number has gotten a little too high. The wind is expected to be blowing in, and Comerica is certainly not a hitters ballpark. The under looks like a solid value.
