The Giants continue their 7 game road trip when they invade St. Louis to take on the Cardinals in Monday’s series opener. San Francisco has won 4 in row after going through some struggles as they swept away the Washington Nationals over the week.

Madison Bumgarner finished off the sweep with a 14 strike out gem. The Giants are now just 2.5 behind front running Los Angeles in the NL West and 3.5 out of the Wild Card.

As for the Cardinals, they just keep on rolling as they lead the majors with 75 wins. They sit 5.0 games up on Pittsburgh in the NL Central.

The Giants will go with RH Chris Heston who will be countered by the Cardinals ace RH Michael Wacha.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants 2015 season has been a major roller coaster ride. After struggling against the Cubs and being swept out of Wrigley Field, the Giants got a little momentum back with a split against the Astros.

Things got much better over the weekend as the Giants 4 game sweep of the Nationals got them right back into striking distance and they’ll look to build off that momentum as they continue their tough stretch of opponents.

San Francisco will go with RH Chris Heston, who is winless over his last 3 starts. Heston was a tough luck loser last time out as he allowed one run over 6.1 innings, but the Giants dropped the game 2-0.

Heston has been a much better road pitcher this season as well. In 11 road starts, Heston brings in a 6-2 record. However, his ERA is a bit inflated as it sits at 4.45 in road contests.

St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis has been doing everything right all season long. Getting hits with runners in scoring position, getting timely outs when the opposition has runners on base, and doing all the little things right.

St. Louis took 2 of 3 over Miami over the weekend and have won 5 series in a row.

With that, they hold only a 5.0 game lead despite a 75 win season thus far. St. Louis will look to continue their home dominance with ace Michael Wacha on the mound.

Wacha has pitched incredible this season, which has made him a potential Cy Young candidate. Wacha brings in a 14-4 record and has won 3 straight.

[dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Wacha has just one career start against the Giants and allowed just 3 hits over 6.1 innings of work.

At home this season, the Cardinals are an astounding 44-18 S.U. The opposition is scoring just 2.79 runs per game.
