Gametime: Tonight, 7:05 p.m. ET

Team records:
St. Louis: 18-8 SU
Philadelphia: 14-11 SU

Starting Pitchers:
Adam Wainwright (4-1, 2.13) vs Cole Hamels (2-2, 5.28)

MLB odds: Cardinals -110, Phillies -110

He’s carried every last bit of momentum from last year’s torrid second half into a stellar start to 2010.

He’s doing everything St. Louis could want – keeping the ball in the park, striking guys out, not walking too many, going deep into games and holding opponents to a .203 average.

Though Wainwright’s career home numbers are much better than his road totals, he hasn’t allowed a run in his eight career innings pitched at Citizen’s Bank Park.

Of the current Phillies starters, only Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino have ever taken Wainwright deep; Werth only bats .200 against him.

While I do believe Cole Hamels will emerge from his early-season funk, I hate his matchup tonight. He’s really struggling with the long ball of late and so much of the Cardinals’ power (Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Ryan Ludwick) comes from the right side of the plate.

That doesn’t bode well for the lefty Hamels.
