Walters is nothing more than a stopgap for Brad Penny. His 6.23 ERA is an improvement over his career mark of 8.07 in his limited MLB experience to date.
Interestingly enough, though, he held San Diego scoreless in his one road start of the season. 
Carlos Monasterios is still getting stretched out so we’re unlikely to see him pitch past the fifth or sixth inning tonight. But the undrafted rookie has been surprisingly solid over his first three big-league starts, surrendering just three earned runs over 14 innings.
Sure, Walters pitched well at San Diego, but that was an anemic offensive club in baseball’s best pitcher’s park.
Facing the mighty Dodgers is a whole new ballgame – pun intended.
