The New York Mets will look to extend their four-game winning streak when they open a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday at Citi Field.

The Pirates arrive in the Big Apple, winners of five of their last seven.

Their latest win came by way of a seven-run first inning on Thursday against the Cardinals, fueled by Andrew McCutchen, who had an RBI double to ignite the onslaught.
The Pirates center fielder is 12-for-28 with three homers, 11 RBIs and 19 runs scored in his last eight contests.
Pedro Alvarez, who is 7-for-14 with two homers and three RBIs in his last four games, also contributed in the 10-5 over St. Louis.

Pittsburgh will send J.A. Happ (4-7, 4.78 ERA) to the mound in Friday’s opener after nine days’ rest. The left-hander gave up four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Chicago Cubs in his Pittsburgh debut on Aug. 4.
Mets
National League East-leading New York is on fire, and is 11 games over .500 for the first time in five years.
After a convincing 12-3 triumph over Colorado on Thursday afternoon, the Mets will go for their eighth consecutive home victory, after improving to 42-18 in Queens this season by recording its 11th win in 13 contests overall.

Offensively, the Mets collected 15 extra-base hits and outscored the Rockies by a 23-5 margin during their four-game sweep.
In an effort to continue their dominance, Bartolo Colon (10-11, 4.76 ERA) will toe the rubber in Game 1.
The veteran right-hander will look to rebound from his seventh loss in eight outings, after allowing four runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings versus Tampa Bay on Sunday. Colon has dominated Pittsburgh in the past, going 4-2 with a 1.97 ERA.
