Baseball Gambling Lines:

Line: Philadelphia +120, Cincinnati -140
Total: Over/Under 9.5

The Philadelphia Phillies travel to the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati for a three game series with the Reds starting tonight at 7:10 P.M.

After a solid month of shaky play, Philadelphia appears to be back on track and back in the NL East division race. The Phillies have won seven out of their last 10 and are just 2 ½ games in back of Atlanta with an overall record of 40-33. They are 18-17 SU on the road and 11-9 ATS as an underdog. Against the over/under line they are 33-39-1.

The game total has stayed under in nine of their last 12 games against the Reds.

Right hander Kyle Kendrick will be on the mound tonight for Philadelphia. In 14 starts he is 4-2 with an ERA of 4.71. In his previous start he only lasted four innings giving up six hits and four earned runs. Lifetime against Cincinnati he is 3-0 with a 6.61 ERA.

The Phillies bats are back as they have averaged 6.9 runs per game in their last 10. For the year they have a .259 team batting average, ranking them eighth in the NL and 350 total runs scored, ranking them sixth. Ryan Howard continues to lead the team with 85 hits, 55 RBI’s, and 15 HR’s.

Placido Polanco leads the team with a .318 batting average but is battling an elbow injury that has him in and out of the lineup. He is listed as out for this one.

Cincinnati is 6-4 in their last 10 games and with a record of 42-34 is clinging to a ½ game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central.

The Reds are 25-18 SU at home and 23-14 ATS as the favorite. Against the over/under line they are 37-32-7. The total has stayed under in eight of their previous 11 games.

Johnny Cueto gets the start tonight for Cincinnati. He is 7-2 with a 3.97 ERA in 15 starts this season. His last time out he pitched seven strong innings giving up seven hits and no earned runs in a win over Oakland which was his sixth in his last seven starts.

Against the Phillies he is 0-2 with a 15.26 ERA.

The Reds lead the National League with a team batting average of .273 and 369 runs scored. Their 4.86 runs per game average is fifth best in the Majors. Three players in their lineup already have 50 or more RBI’s led by Jonny Gomes’ 51.

Joey Votto and Scott Rolen lead the team with 16 HR’s a piece.

While the past trends favor the under, this one has the makings of a slugfest with the way these two teams have been hitting the ball lately.

Stick with the Reds to pound out a win in tonight’s game with the score going over the 9 ½ run total.
