Philadelphia kicks off the second half of the 2010 MLB season when they travel to Wrigley Field in Chicago for a four game series with the Cubs starting tonight at 8:05 P.M. (ET).
At the midway point of the season Philadelphia finds them self in unfamiliar territory; third place in the NL East and 4 ½ games in back of Atlanta. Ryan Dempster will get the start tonight for Chicago. In 18 previous starts this year he is 8-8 with an ERA of 3.61. In his last start he pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three earned runs but still got the win against Arizona. Against the Phillies he is 4-3 with a 5.15 ERA.
The Cubs hitting has been woeful this year as they are ranked 12th in the NL with a team batting average of .254 and 14th in total runs scored with 359. Alfonso Soriano leads the team with 44 RBI’s and 15 HR’s. Marlon Byrd leads the team in hits with 105.
Philadelphia desperately needs to get off to a good start to keep pace with the Braves and the Cubs could provide the perfect opportunity. The Phillies are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games against Chicago and 5-1 against them on the road. Stick with them tonight to run their winning streak to five.
