C. Lee (2-3) vs. R. Nolasco (3-0)

Two of the top teams in the NL East will go at it one more time this week when the Philadelphia Phillies wrap-up a three game set with the Florida Marlins on Wednesday night at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Game time is set for 7:10 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on MLB TV.

Philadelphia got the early edge in this series with a 6-4 victory as a slight 100 road underdog in Game 1 on Monday night. The win moved its record to a MLB-best 23-11 and opened up a three game lead over Florida in the division. The Phillies are 13-7 at home and moved to 10-4 on the road. The total is 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

With a relentless starting rotation and a well-rested bullpen, Philadelphia is currently ranked third in the NL in pitching with a 3.09 team ERA. Cliff Lee will get the start on Wednesday and is 2-3 on the year, but has a 3.69 ERA, a WHIP of 1.17, and 60 strikeouts. The Phillies’ bats led by Ryan Howard’s 31 RBI continue to get the job done with a team batting average of .262 and 150 runs scored.

Florida has been able to keep pace with Philadelphia in the early going, but Monday’s loss was its sixth in its last 10 games. The Marlins are now 20-14 overall; 9-6 on the road and 11-8 at home. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last nine games.

Pitching has also been a strong suit for Florida with a team ERA of 3.45. Ricky Nolasco will be on the mound for the Marlins and is a perfect 3-0 with a 3.23 ERA in his first seven starts. He is 6-3 against the Phillies with a 3.78 ERA. The Marlins have been solid at the plate as well with a .256 team batting average and 156 runs scored. Gaby Sanchez leads the team with 23 RBI and six home runs.

Heading into Tuesday night’s game, the Phillies have won 11 of the last 13 games overall and seven straight at Sun Life Stadium. The domination continues with another close win that goes ‘over’ the total.
