Are things finally going to start to turn for Philly? They just got back Chase Utley (homer in first AB) and slugger Ryan Howard is rumoured to be not that far behind. The team may be 9 games back right now but if they are full strength in the second half I think most would expect them to make a run.

This series is a good time to get started. If they can win it then they will have passed the Marlins in the standings.
It is hard to believe that starter Cliff Lee has yet to notch a victory for the Phillies this year – he is 0-4. His peripherals are not terrible but to give you an idea of his luck t he pitched 10 scoreless innings with zero walks against San Fran earlier this year and only got an ND for his trouble. He can pitch better and I like the value of backing him in this spot. He is 2-0 lifetime against the Marlins. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Miami
Like Philly, Miami is also failing to live up to expectations. This team made huge offseason investments and with more than a third of the season in the can the only one that seems to be paying off was the quiet theft of left Mark Buehrle from the White Sox. Jose Reyes has done little and the effect of pushing pouty Hanley Ramirez to third base has been as expected. The NL East offers some potential excitement because these guys showed how good they could be by dominating in May.
Starter Josh Johnson has been healthy but not nearly as effective this year. Last year in just 9 starts the league hit .185 against him – this year they are hitting 100 points higher. It looks like things may have locked in for the big righty though. While the team has struggled in June he has been sharper, giving up no more than 2ERs in any of his starts. Unfortunately he has received only 6 runs of support.
