Ricky Romero (4-4, 3.10)
In the suddenly jam-packed American League East, the Toronto Blue Jays have a chance to make a big move if they can string some road wins together in the Bronx this week. But will ace Ricky Romero be up to the job on Tuesday? He’s been hot, winning his last two starts while allowing just one run over 15.2 innings. But the Yankees play him tough. Romero has a 5.31 ERA and seven homers allowed over 42.1 career innings pitched against them.
Will Jose Bautista’s power binge ever stop? He continued his streak on Monday to extend his major-league-leading homer total. The crazy part is that his batting average on balls in play suggests he hasn’t even been lucky this season. The guy is legit.
New York Yankees (25-20 through May 22)
C.C. Sabathia (4-3, 3.06)
Standing in the Jays’ way on Tuesday is the formidable C.C. Sabathia, who is 9-3 against them in his career. He almost always cruises against Toronto, so it will be interesting to see if he can overpower Bautista.
The Yankee hitter to watch on Tuesday is Brett Gardner. He hasn’t matched his solid 2010 numbers this season but he’s a .455 career hitter against Ricky Romero.

Considering the Romero has also struggled against New York in the past, I feel pretty confident about the Bronx Bombers’ chances on Tuesday.
