Oakland Athletics vs. LA Angels Picks & MLB Handicapping Odds

Oakland vs Los Angeles MLB Gambling Tips

The Angels got swept by the A’s last month but that was without Mike Trout, who did miss time in that series with a back injury. But the slugging outfielder didn’t miss a beat on Monday in the series opener, driving in a pair of runs in a rare 4-1 victory over Oakland.

Trout went 1-for-3 to extend his home hitting streak to 10 games in game one and then followed up in game two on Tuesday going 1-for-3 including a double, and a trio of walks during a 2-1, win in extra innings.

But it was Collin Cowgill not Trout who was the hero in game two, when he homered to left in the bottom of the 14th to lift his team to victory

The A’s (39-26, 22-14 away) will turn to lefty Tommy Milone on Wednesday in the series finale. Milone pitched perhaps his worst game of the season last time out, giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings of work, getting his second no decision in as many games in a 4-3 win over Baltimore.

The 27-year-old is 5-2 with a 4.21 ERA in nine career starts against the Halos, including a no decision in his only contest against the division rivals this season, allowing three runs on nine hits in an 11-3 A’s win on May 31.

Los Angles (36-28, 20-13 home) will counter by sending right-hander Jered Weaver to the mound.

The 31-year-old won his last outings, a 8-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. He struck out nine in that one while allowing just five hits and four walks over six frames.

He is 11-8 in 27 career starts versus the A’s, including a 6-3 loss on June 1, when he gave up 11 hits and six runs (five earned) in six innings of work.

Notes

1. Oakland 3B Josh Donaldson has committed four errors over the first two games of the series, raising his season total to 13 and tying him with Pittsburgh 3B Pedro Alvarez and Washington SS Ian Desmond for the major-league lead.
2. Trout has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games.
3. Athletics LF Yoenis Cespedes has thrown out three Angels at the plate this season, gunning down Howie Kendrick in the eighth inning Tuesday after nailing two runners in the second inning on May 31.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Angels –

Milone has struggled as of late and has not had much luck when facing the Halos in the past.

Meanwhile, Weaver is peaking and despite his poor outing against the A’s earlier this year, I expect a strong performance tonight.

With a little more offense than they had on Tuesday, I expect this one to stay under the total with the home team coming out on top.
