The Yankees have been inconsistent, while the Angels were pathetic out of the gate.

Still, the Angels have made it all the way back to .500 with a seven-game winning streak.

The Yankees are 26-22 and in third place in the difficult AL East. Both of these teams are fully capable of making a serious run the rest of the season.

New York has been lead by the terrific Derek Jeter. Jeter has turned back the clock and put together an amazing season thus far in 2012. He leads the team with a sparkling .335 average. The Bronx Bombers continue to smash home runs, led by Curtis Granderson’s 15 dingers.

Mark Teixeira’s red hot streak of late has to give fans something to be encouraged about. For much of the year he has been a major disappointment, but Tex has 10 hits in his last 16 at-bats. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Veteran lefty Andy Pettitte gets the start for the Yankees in this one. Pettitte has allowed just two earned runs in his last two starts.

Dan Haren has burned bettors money in a big way so far this year. Bettors who have wagered $100 on the Angels in every start Haren has made are currently down $1,130. Haren did pitch a complete game gem in his last outing, so maybe he is starting to turn the corner.

He’ll need to get a little run support from the offense, and that hasn’t been easy this year. The Angels are 25th in the majors in runs scored per game at just 3.78 per contest. The offense has perked up a bit of late as Albert Pujols has gotten on a roll.

Pujols is still hitting just .232 for the year, but he is really swinging the bat well over the last couple weeks.

Both pitchers are throwing the ball well right now, and the offenses have been inconsistent. Look for a low scoring game here.
