The Yankees and Indians meet Thursday night in the finale of their 3 game set inside Progressive Field. After a 16 inning marathon that saw Cleveland win 5-4, the Indians won another 1 run game, but in a much more timely fashion. The Indians took game 2 of the 3 game set 2-1 behind Danny Salazar’s gem and Cody Allen’s 5 out save. With the loss, New York has fallen out of first place as the red hot Blue Jays have came all the way back from down 6.5 games. As for Cleveland, they still sit 5.5 off the Wild Card pace, but with the way their pitching is going, a couple more wins in a row and look out.

The Yankees will try to avoid the sweep with RH Nathan Eovaldi. The Indians will counter with RH Trevor Bauer.
New York Yankees
Hitting into double plays, allowing inopportune hits from the opposition, those are just a few of the things the Yankees are enduring right now.
For the first time in 2015, New York is struggling in all aspects of the game and the floor is starting to fall underneath them. While there is clearly plenty of time to turn things around and not completely collapse, the Yankees have to be careful they don’t fall into a deeper losing streak.
Trailing in the AL East by 0.5 game, the Yankees will look to find some kind of offense in the series finale. They scored just 1 run over the weekend against Toronto and now have scored just 5 runs in the first 2 games against Cleveland.
Looking to put the breaks on the losing streak, RH Nathan Eovaldi takes the hill.

Eovaldi brings in an astounding 11-2 record with high ERA of 4.15.
He’s unbeaten in his last 9 starts and is 6-0 in that span. Over those 9 starts, the RH hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs.
Eovaldi is 7-2 on the road, but his ERA sits at 4.80. He’s been the beneficiary of a lot of run support that has bailed him out.
Cleveland Indians
Hitting with runners in scoring position, getting key strike outs, and locking down in the bullpen are all things happening for Cleveland during this 4 game winning streak. This is the most productive the Indians have been all season.
It’s unfortunate it took them till now to get the job done, but sitting just 5.5 off the Wild Card pace, a hot streak to get them back into contention and striking distance isn’t out of the question.
Cleveland is doing all the little things right, including grabbing 2 hits with runners in scoring position on Wednesday and getting some timely pitching from Danny Salazar and Cody Allen.
Trevor Bauer will try to follow suit as he takes the hill for Cleveland on Thursday.

Bauer was the beneficiary of a 17 run outburst Saturday night for the Indians.
The long ball has killed Bauer this year along with his walks as he allowed 3 more homers in Saturday’s contest. He’s been extremely suspect at home this season going 4-5 with an ERA of 5.60 in 12 starts inside Progressive Field.
