ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview
The Yankees had their final game in KC postponed which was probably to their advantage the way the club is playing right now. New York has only won 3 of its last 10 and now gets a Seattle team that seems to be hitting its stride.
New York
Offensively the team has nice speed with Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner but the power has not been there. Offseason pickups Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran have only 12 homers between them and neither is hitting even .230.
This team could be due for an offensive explosion but there are no warning signs.
So far Masahiro Tanaka has answered every challenge.

His actual stuff does not always look that nasty but he has taken the league by storm. He is leading the AL in ERA and WHIP and with a win would join Mark Buehrle as the only 10 game winners in the Majors.
Home or away it doesn’t seem to matter to this “rookie”.
Making the trip to Seattle could be a bit of a circus but that is relative for a player suiting up for the Yankees.
Seattle
The Mariners are playing some great baseball right now.

They have won 8 of 10 and held the Rays scoreless for the last two ballgames.
Their pitching has been so good they have thrown 4 shutouts in the last 8 games giving their hitting a chance to come through. Speaking of hitting it looks like SafeCo is going to kill Robinson Cano’s power numbers but he is second in the AL in hitting at .330.
He may not put up the numbers he did as a Yankee but Seattle is much improved so they are getting their money’s worth.
If you like Japanese pitching this is the matchup for you with Tanaka and Iwakuma.
Iwakuma got a late start to the season but this control artist has been super effective. He is coming off 7 shutout innings against the Braves, the third time in 7 starts that he has pitched 7 or more shutout innings.
He does not strike out batters like Tanaka but with a 36:4 K:BB ratio there is little to complain about.
I think we are going to get the pitcher’s duel we expect in this one with the Yankees breaking through to score at least once.
Even still I think the red hot M’s are the way to play it. They are at home and they have a buzz going about them while the Yankees are dead in the water.
This one could be over in a couple of hours.
