N.Y. Yankees vs Cleveland Indians Gambling Prediction & MLB Preview

New York Yankees (4-4) vs Cleveland Indians (3-5)

The forecasted demise of the New York Yankees might have been a little premature. After yesterday’s drubbing of Cleveland they are at .500 and if lefty Andy Pettite continues to turn back the clock they may have something to say all season long.

Probable Starters:

NYY: Ivan Nova (R)
CLE: Zach McAllister (R)

New York Yankees

This is an old team but if they can keep it together early they will be a force to be reckoned with as they get healthier throughout the season. SS Derek Jeter is not that far away now.

Righty Ivan Nova gets the nod tonight. His first start of the season was forgettable and be wary of him this evening as he is a notoriously slow starter – April is his worst month by far as he gives up far too many hits until he finds his form in June. The Yanks are 3-2 on the road so far this season but if they keep slugging like they did yesterday they will be in good shape.

Nova has good potential and people are waiting for him to bust out – it hasn’t happened yet.

Cleveland

The Indians started strong in Toronto but have since struggled, They are getting a nice diet of American League East teams to start the season with consecutive series against Toronto, Tampa and now New York. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

This team is much improved but that might not show until they start facing off with the Minnesota and Kansas City’s, especially since the pitching is still very thin, especially the rotation.

Cleveland starter Zach McAllister is a big guy on the mound but far from intimidating in the stat sheets.

He has proven to be an average level MLB pitcher whose best quality is probably the fact that he doesn’t walk many batters – no free passes in his lone start of the season against Tampa. He has never faced the Yankees in his career and pitches better away from home that at it.

I was surprised Cleveland was installed as a short favourite in this one.

O/U Pick: Over

Score Prediction: New York 7 – Cleveland 4

New York probably won’t score another 14 runs tonight but I have them as my favourite this evening so I recommend punching them now. Neither pitcher instill much confidence so the over is a nice value play too if you feel like it could get really out of hand – which it might.

I think when all is said and done Cleveland will be improved this season but we might not see it for a little while.
