ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Twins (26-28) are losers of eight of their last 11 games and are in dead last in the AL Central division.

In game one on Monday, the Twins pitching staff, which has the worst ERA in baseball, was again a letdown, as it allowed 12 hits in a 6-2 loss.

Meanwhile. the offense continued to struggle as well, as the Twins have scored three or fewer runs in eight of their last 12 games, and are 3-20 on the season when doing so.

Joe Mauer, however, has been just the opposite, and had a pair of doubles among three hits in Monday’s opener.

Milwaukee (34-23) will try extend its current string of solid performances, and will send Yovani Gallardo to the hill on Tuesday.

The right-hander is 3-3 with a 3.56 ERA and has 46 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. He is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in six career starts against the Twins.

The Brewers’ offense in the meantime, will aim to keep up its production of scoring six or more runs in seven of its last eight games, while winning five of its last six games. That has allowed Milwaukee to create some distance between them and second place in the NL Central.

The lineup has been led by Mark Reynolds, who has clubbed four homers in his last 10 games, while Carlos Gomez has notched nine RBIs in his last 10 games.

That type of offensive production is going to make things difficult for Twins’ starter Samuel Deduno, who will get the nod in game one. The righty is 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA and has 35 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.

This will be Deduno’s second career start against the Brewers.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Brewers

I just don’t see any possible way the Twins can win this one.

The Brewers are playing lights out, and when you add Gallardo into the equation, it even decreases the Twins chances for a win.

I don’t like the numbers, but Milwaukee is the play here.
