L.A. Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres Gambling Prediction & MLB Preview

Los Angeles Dodgers (5-3) vs San Diego Padres (2-6)

The offense has been much less impressive as they have are the 4th worst team in the Majors in runs scored so far, a real disappointment given they were supposed to have a revamped lineup and the seeming return to form of OF Carl Crawford.

Los Angeles

Sadly Kershaw is tied for the team lead in homers right now with 1.

Starter Zach Greinke did not go deep into his first start against Pittsburgh but looked very sharp with no runs allowed, no walks and 6 strikeouts in 6+ innings of work. He gets a chance to face another mediocre lineup as San Diego have no bats you really need to be concerned with. He has only faced the Padres one time, with a win in that outing. Its a pitchers park and he is looking good which is why L.A. is installed as the solid favourite.

San Diego

There was some sleeper talk about the San Diego Padres coming into the season but so far none of that looks all that real. They did start the season on the road but series against the Mets and Rockies were supposed to be a soft landing. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Injuries haven’t helped, this offensively challenged squad is just a slight tick above the Dodgers in runs but has only three homers this far without their leading slugger Chase Headley in the lineup. There is promise for development from young players but it hasn’t materialized yet.

That sleeper status was because some believed their pitching would keep them in it. It is still very early in the year but right now their best starter has been veteran Jason Marquis who goes tonight. I have never been a fan of Marquis and if he is leading your staff then you are probably in big trouble.

The bullpen looks like it also needs some time to warm up. Houston Street and Co. have a lot of crooked numbers next to their names.

O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Los Angeles 4 – San Diego 0

Given the huge mismatch on the mound it is hard to not like the Dodgers tonight. Both these teams struggle to score so you have to go with Greinke over Marquis…don’t you. San Diego may prove to be a nice team to back at some point this season but lets force them to show us something first.
