Garrett Richards gets the nod for the Angels as they look to bounce back in this one. He’s been a very pleasant surprise for the team this season, with many considering his absence from the American League All Star roster a disservice to both he and the team.

Richards had a rare rough outing in his last start, though, in his defense, it did come against the Detroit Tigers. In that outing, Richards gave up four earned runs on seven hits over four innings of work, taking his first loss in two months.

Even still, Richards has really picked up his game in the summer months. In 10 starts in June and July, he’s gone 7-1 with a 1.66 ERA and 0.88 WHIP, holding opponents to a .170 batting average, and striking out 75 batters in 70 2/3 innings of work.

Kevin Gausman counters for the Orioles. The rookie has been very effective for Baltimore this season, helping the team to wins in six of his nine starts, including wins in three of his last four outings.

Gausman’s last trip to the mound was one of his best yet, as he limited the Seattle Mariners to just one run on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings of work, throwing 103 pitches along the way. He’ll face a real test in the form of a hot-hitting Angels squad in this one, though he’s already found success against the likes of the Athletics and Blue Jays in his young career.

This has the feel of a series poised to be tied at a game apiece entering a third and deciding game on Thursday. Garrett Richards has guided the Angels to losses in each of his last two starts, but the team has done a lot of winning when he takes to the hill, and this game should yield similar results.

Additionally, both pitchers should be able to handle their own in this one. By the veritable aces of each staff took to the mound and found little success on Tuesday, each of Wednesday’s starters has the stuff to find success in this outing.

The Angels are 8-2 in Richards’s last 10 starts, and they are 12-3 in their last 15 when playing the second game of a series.

The under is 12-4-1 in the Orioles’ last 17 home games against a right-handed starter, and it is 45-10-2 in Danley’s last 57 games behind home plate.

The play: Los Angeles -125, Under 8.5
