Matchup | Preview

Coming into this series, Texas has lost five consecutive contests in New York.

However, the Rangers are surging in August, scoring 71 runs in 11 games while going 8-3 coming into this one.

That’s a marked improvement from tallying just 81 runs in July, as Texas now finds itself in complete command of the AL West after taking the final two of a three-game set with Detroit, including an 8-3 victory Sunday.

Hamilton homered and drove in three runs in that game.

Meanwhile, the Yankees also find themselves with a comfortable cushion in the AL East, heading into this series with a five-game advantage over Tampa Bay.

However, they could have increased that lead, but instead had a four-game winning streak snapped by Toronto on Sunday. The Yankees scored 22 runs while winning two of three from the Blue Jays.

It will all now fall on the shoulders of pitcher Matt Harrison to slow down that Yankees offense.  [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The 26-year old lefty was shelled in Boston his last time out, allowing four runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. It was his shortest outing since May 2 at Toronto, when he only last 3 1/3 innings after being tagged for eight runs and eight hits.

Harrison has struggled overall since the All-Star break and is 2-2 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 17-to-15 in five games.

The Yankees will counter with veteran Hiroki Kuroda, who has allowed two runs on 6 2/3 innings during his only meeting of the season against Texas.

The 37-year old right-hander has been stellar as of late, and has only allowed seven runs in his last 34 2/3 innings of work over his last five starts.

He will try to go three games over .500 for the first time this season on Tuesday.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Texas- The Rangers won two of three from New York in an April series held in Texas, and I just don’t trust Kiroda, who narrowly escaped his last outing. I expect Texas’ recent surge to continue here.

You had a parlay play for this day with Baltimore and the Yankees winning. Then you had a play for the Rangers to win against the Yankees on the same day???? Am I not seeing something here?
Thanks

If you look at the Handicappers names on the plays you’ll see 1 pick was written by Dave Schwab, and the other pick written by Matt Martz. Different cappers, different plays.
