Indians outfielder Johnny Damon, who has six hits in his last 15 at-bats, is returning to the Bronx, a place he has visited with three different clubs since ending his stint with the Yankees after helping them win the 2009 World Series.

He will likely get some offensive help from Asdrubal Cabrera, who is 9-for-30 with four homers and eight RBIs over his last eight contests. His .384 on-base percentage leads all middle infielders, with the Yankees’ Robinson Cano is fourth at .367, and teammate Derek Jeter is seventh at .355.

Five of Cano’s last eight hits have been home runs, including a tiebreaking 10-inning round tripper Sunday in the Yankees 6-5 win over the Mets.

It was just one of New York’s league-leading 112 home runs.

The Indians will try to contain the Yankees lineup by sending Josh Tomlin to the mound.

The right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA in three outings against New York, losing his only appearance in the Bronx last June as he gave up six runs and a career-high 12 hits over five innings in a 9-1 defeat.

The 27-year fared much better his in his last outing, allowing one run over 6 2-3 innings Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Cincinnati.
New York will counter with 37-year old right-hander Hiroki Kuroda ,who has never faced Cleveland.

After going 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in four starts, Kuroda lost command, giving up four runs over seven innings in Tuesday’s 4-3 home loss to Atlanta.

He walked three batters while striking out six.

Matt’s Free Prediction: New York- The Yankees could do little wrong until three consecutive defeats put an abrupt end to the good times. But a pair of back-to-back win has my attention again. It’s not a surprise to see Kuroda the favorite here, considering Tomlin’s last outing against the Yankees was a disaster.
