Milwaukee Brewers vs. Kansas City Royals Preview

1. The Royals have won their last 3 games all coming against the Brewers.
2. The Brewers have lost 5 straight games.
3. The Brewers have the 2nd fewest wins in the Majors.

This season the Royals are 20-11 at home and the Brewers are 13-19 on the road.

In yesterday’s Game 1 of this 2-game series the Royals beat the Brewers 10-2.

The Royals look for the sweep tonight in the away and home set with the Brewers and in their 3 game winning streak they have totaled 25 runs. They are a betting favorite at home tonight facing a reeling Brewers team that has lost 5 in a row.

With the Royals winning 7 of their last 10 games and the Twins struggling Kansas City is back in first place in the AL Central 3.5 games up on Minnesota.

The Brewers are in the basement of the NL Central and in mid June they are already 20 games back of the St. Louis Cardinals. It is not hard to see why the Brewers are 19 games under .500, as they rank 27th in the Majors in both runs scored and team ERA.

In their 5-game skid the Brewers rotation has an ERA of 8.78.

The Brewers turn to Jimmy Nelson to try to end their losing streak, but in his last start he was shelled giving up 7 earned runs in 5 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. Milwaukee has lost 4 of their last 5 games when Nelson has gotten the start.

Guthrie was not bad in his last start giving up 3 earned runs in 5 innings, but got little run support in a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Royals are 1-3 in their last 4 games when he has been on the hill. In Guthrie’s last 3 games he has a respectable ERA of 3.18.

Since joining the Royals in 2012 Guthrie is 3-0 with an ERA of 1.72 in 6 interleague starts.

The Royals are 7-0 in their last 7 games facing the Brewers and have won 6 straight facing them at home.
