Houston

When you look a little deeper though you see a team that has trouble scoring while giving up a whole bunch of runs – and that is with Scott Feldman being nearly unhittable in the early going.

We all know that is not going to last for very long. Starting pitching is this team’s achilles heel and they can only mask it for so long.

Lucas Harrell lost 17 games last season and though it was only one start 2014 is not looking any better. That one start thus far has yielded an ERA of 15.00 and on a club that is going to not offer much support either offensively, defensively or in the bullpen that is just not going to cut it.

The fact that Harrell is even in the rotation shows the dearth of pitching prospects in the Houston system.

Toronto

The Blue Jays have to use this series to get their season going in a more positive way and hopefully get their bats going. So far it has been Melky Cabrera and Jose Bautista and not much else. The most notable absent has been Edwin Encarnacion.

He has had 214 RBIs over the last couple of season but after the first week he has 0. At the other corner spot Brett Lawrie is not doing much better and both of them are hitting below .200 heading into this series.

If the Jays are going to exceed expectations they are going to have to do it with the bats.

As a local I can attest to the fact that there are few who have more raw pitching talent than Brandon Morrow. A few years back on the heels of a 17 strikeout game it appeared that he was turning a corner but injuries and poor performance have left everyone in the baseball world wanting.

He has not gotten off to a great start and if he struggles against Houston the Jays are going to have to be worried…big time.

As you can see from the odds there is not much of a chance being given to Houston and rightfully so with this pitching matchup. If the Jays are going to have any chance this season they have to seize opportunities like this one and I think they know it.

Not much value on Toronto on the ML so maybe go with the runline.
