The Astros (41-58) ended a three-game losing streak on Sunday, beating the Chicago White Sox in the finale of its three-game series.

The Astros’ 17-hit offensive attack was led by Matt Dominguez, who continued his hitting upswing, homering while driving in four runs in the win. All-star Jose Altuve added a homer and two RBIs as well.

Meanwhile, Oakland (61-37) has won eight of its last nine contests at O.co Coliseum, including Sunday’s 10-2 win over the Orioles.

The offense continues to throw knock out punches, as the A’s preserved their lead over the second-place Los Angeles Angels in the American League West.

Oakland will hope that Scott Kazmir can keep its streak alive when he takes the mound to start against the Astros in game one.

The left-hander has been dominating over his last nine starts, winning six of seven while allowing fewer than three runs in eight of the outings. He is is 2-0 over his last three, allowing just two runs in 19 1/3 innings. Kazmir owns a 2-1 record and 3.60 ERA in five career starts against Houston.

Houston will counter with lefty Brett Oberholtzer, who hasn’t registered a win since rejoining the rotation. He is winless in three starts. Oberholtzer is 0-2 in three career starts against the A’s, including a loss on April 24, when he allowed six runs and eight hits over 3 2/3 innings.

The Astros will be witouth rookie outfielder George Springer who sat out Sunday’s game, while the A’s will return Josh Reddick, who is expected to be activated from the disabled list in time for Tuesday’s series opener.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Athletics –

Oakland swept a three-game series against Houston at home back in April and won the first two contests of a four-game series at Houston the following.

I like the A’s here, especially since Oberholtzer has been struggling.
