New York Yankees (0-1) at Boston Red Sox (1-0)

The odds makers have the Red Sox as –1 ½ -point favorites with a game total of 10 runs.
NYY: A.J. Burnett (0-0, NA)
BOS: J. Lester (0-0, NA)
The Boston Red Sox will host bitter rivals the defending champion New Yankees in game two of a three game series at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.
The Red Sox beat the Yanks in Sunday night’s game between the storied franchises, 9-7.
Boston trailed by as many as four runs in fourth but the Yankees bullpen could not hold the lead, and with New York leading 7-5, Pedroia “the Destroyah” knotted it up in the home half of the seventh on a two-run shot to left. Kevin Youklis scored the game winner on a passed ball later in the inning, and Pedroia iced it with an RBI single to shallow right-center in the eighth.
So now what? New York needs to “Fugetaboutit”, and put game one behind them focusing ahead on tonight’s contest. Just think, the Red Sox won their opener last year and were swept by the Los Angeles Angels in the AL division series, while the Yankees started with a loss and finished with their 27th World Series title. Only 161 more game to go boys!
Lefty Jon Lester will look to help the BoSox start 2-0 for the first time since 1999. Lester was 15-8 in 2009 with a 3.41 ERA while finishing third in the AL with career-high 225 strikeouts. He was flawless in his final six home starts, winning four while posting a 1.93 ERA. He is 3-1 with a 3.88 ERA in eight starts against the Yankees.
In the meantime, the Yanks will counter with A.J. Burnett. He and catcher Jorge Posada will need to put last year’s difficulties behind them and look forward to a fresh start, as the two will be paired for the first time since Aug. 22 of last year. Burnett was 0-2 with an 8.85 ERA in four starts against Boston last season and finished 2009, 13-9 with an ERA of 4.04. 
The Yankees will be hoping that Alex Rodriguez’ s 1-4 performance in Sunday’s ballgame is only temporary. A-Rod, who missed the first 28 games last year after hip surgery is also looking forward to a fresh start to the 2010 season.
The New York bullpen will need to bounce back after a tough performance, in case manager Joe Girardi has to dig deep in a tight situation? Tonight’s game should tell the Yankees a bit about their future.
