The Pirates visit Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for the first time this season to play the Phillies tonight with a scheduled start at 7:05 P.M. This is the first of a two game series.
Pittsburgh has gotten off to a decent start this season as they are 16-21, five games in back of Cincinnati in the NL Central. After losing three straight to the Reds last week, they took two out of three from Chicago (Cubs) over the weekend.
Coming into this game they are 7-12 on the road. As an underdog they have a record of 15-20 and are 17-17-3 against the over/under line.
Right handed pitcher Charlie Morton will get the start tonight for the Pirates. Morton has gotten off to a rough start this year. In his first seven starts he has a record of 1-6 with an ERA of 9.19. In his last outing on May 11 against the Reds he gave up seven hits and three earned runs in six innings of work. In two career starts against Philadelphia he is 0-1 with an ERA of 7.88.
The Pirates have been plagued this season with inconsistent hitting that has already cost them a number of games. Their .235 team batting average and 131 runs scored are both ranked second to last in the NL. Garrett Jones has been one of the bright spots in the lineup with 33 hits and 23 RBI’s in 130 at bats. 
Philadelphia continues to roll and after a weekend sweep of the Brewers and lead Florida and Washington in the NL East by four games with a record of 23-13. They are 10-6 at home and have a record of 14-11 as the favorite. Against the over/under line the Phillies are 18-17 overall and 6-1 in their last seven home games.
Kyle Kendrick will be on the mound tonight for Philadelphia. In seven starts the right hander is 1-1 with an ERA of 5.89. In his last start he gave up eight hits and four earned runs in six innings of work against Colorado. Lifetime against the Pirates he is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.57.
The Phillies hope to have short stop Jimmy Rollins back in the lineup for tonight’s game after spending 15 days on the DL with a strained right calf.
He will be evaluated today and will be a game time decision. His presence can only add to a tremendously powerful lineup that is ranked first in the NL with 200 runs scored and a batting average of .279.
Philadelphia is 8-2 in their last 10 games and is on the verge of running away with the NL East. Kendrick has been decent in his last few starts and their bats have been downright scary lately. Take the Phils in this one as they continue to roll.
