The Philadelphia Phillies travel to Citi Field in New York to begin a three series against the Mets starting tonight at 7:10 P.M. (ET).

New York was in Philadelphia to start the month on May with a three game set against the Phils, dropping games two and three. This time they will host their division leading rivals in an attempt to climb back into the race in the NL East.

The Mets are currently 22-23, five games out of first. They are coming off a successful “subway series” win over the Yankees, beating the boys from the Bronx two out of three over the weekend.

New York is now 16-9 at home against a record of just 6-14 on the road. They are 12-16 as an underdog and 22-20-3 against the over/under line.

Right handed pitcher R.A. Dickey will get the start tonight for the Mets. In his only previous start this season, back on May 19th against the Nationals, he lasted six innings giving up five hits and two earned runs in a non-decision. This will be his first ever career start against Philadelphia and his first start at Citi Field.

With a team batting average of .248 and 197 runs scored, the Mets are ranked 12th in the NL overall. David Wright continues to lead the team with 33 RBI’s and Jason Bay has 50 hits and 19 RBI’s in 163 at bats. Rod Barajas leads the team with 10 homeruns.

It has been an up and down week for Philadelphia as they split a two game series with both Pittsburgh and Chicago (Cubs) and dropped two out of three at home the Red Sox over the weekend in interleague play. At 26-17, they still have the best record in the NL and a 3 ½ game lead over Atlanta in the NL East.

So far this season, the Phils have played better on the road with a 13-7 record away from Citizens Bank Park.

They are 18-15 as a favorite and 20-22-1 against the over/under line this season.

47 year old left hander Jamie Moyer takes the mound tonight for the Phils. In eight starts this season he is 5-3 with an ERA of 4.30. Moyer has been pitching rather well and has gone at least six innings in every start so far.

In an outing against the Mets earlier this month, he went six innings giving up six hits and five earned runs.

The Phillies bats continue to drive this team as they are currently ranked second in the NL with a .269 average. They are also second in the league in runs scored with 227. Shane Victorino and Jason Werth lead the team with 33 RBI’s each with Ryan Howard right behind them with 32.

Chase Utley leads the team with 10 homeruns in 150 at bats.

After dropping two straight to Boston over the weekend, look for the Phillies’ bats to jump all over Dickey early in this one, providing another nice cushion for Moyer and their bullpen.
