The Philadelphia Phillies travel to AT&T Park in San Francisco to begin a three game series against the Giants starting tonight at 10:15 P.M. (ET).

The Phillies are still atop the National League East but have lost some of the momentum from their 7-1 start by going just 4-6 in their last 10 including dropping two out of three to Arizona over the weekend. In that series Ryan Howard and Chase Utley combined to go 0-16 in the first two games but bounced back to go 3-8 in game three. For a team that relies so heavily on their bats they cannot afford that kind of inconsistency against the Giants.

On the season, the Phils are currently ranked second in the NL with a team batting average of .279 and lead in runs scored with 104.

Fortunately for the Phillies it is Roy Halladay’s turn in the rotation which almost ensures they will only need a couple of runs to come away with a win. He is off to an amazing start with his new team registering four wins in four starts. He has already pitched two complete games, one shutout and has an ERA of just .82.

He will once again look to keep the Phillies bullpen in their seats as in his last start nobody even bothered to warm up in the eighth and ninth inning.

San Francisco has had their trouble of late as well. They too are just 4-6 in their last 10 games, losing two out of three to the LA Dodgers and three straight to San Diego before winning a weekend series against St. Louis.

Overall they are 10-8, one game in back of the Padres in the West.

Jonathon Sanchez gets the start tonight for the Giants. So far this season in his three starts, he is 1-1 with an ERA of 1.86. In his last outing he looked sharp going seven complete innings giving up only one hit and one earned run. Lifetime against the Phillies he is 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA.

The Giants will have to rely on the meat of the order; Edgar Renteria, Juan Uribe, and Bengie Molina to try and pin some runs on Halladay. Uribe leads the team in RBI’s 11’s while Renteria has six and Molina has eight.

When it comes to the long ball, Pablo Sandoval leads the team with three home runs.

Overall, they are currently sixth in the NL with a .270 team batting average but 11th in runs scored with 79.

So far this season Halladay has been lights out and while the Giants have the ability to generate some runs against the majority of the pitchers in the league, they will struggle against the likes of him.
