The Philadelphia Phillies travel to Miller Park in Milwaukee to begin a three game weekend series against the Brewers starting tonight at 8:10 P.M. (ET). This will be the first meeting between these teams this season.

Philadelphia is coming off a two game split with Colorado as game three was rained out. They are now 8-3 in the month of May heading into tonight’s game. Overall they are 20-13 on the year and currently have a one game lead over the surprising Washington Nationals in the NL East. They are 10-7 on the road and 6-2 as an underdog.

They are 16-17 against the over/under line.

Jamie Moyer will get his seventh start of the season and at 4-2 has pitched for the decision in all six outings.

In his 39 innings of work, the 47 year old veteran has given up 19 earned runs for an ERA of 4.38. In his last outing on May 7th, he held the Braves scoreless in a complete nine innings of work in the Phillies 7-0 win. Lifetime against the Brewers Moyer is 2-0 with an ERA of 4.82.

The Phillies bats have remained productive and with a team average of .273 they are ranked second in the NL behind the Dodgers. Jason Werth continues to lead the team with a .345 batting average and 27 RBI. Chase Utley is hitting .314 with 19 RBI and eight homeruns.

After beating Arizona in three straight games last weekend, Milwaukee proceeded to drop three straight games to the Braves this week. Overall they are 15-19, 4 ½ games in back of St. Louis in the NL Central. Miller Park has not been their favorite place to play as they are just 4-11 at home this season. As a favorite they are 8-11 and are 21-10-3 against the over/under line.

Randy Wolf will take the mound against his old team, making his eighth start of the season. He is 3-2 with an ERA of 3.95. In his two seasons with the Dodgers has a career ERA of 4.42 against the team he pitched for from 1999-2006.

In his last outing he went six innings giving up three earned runs against the Diamondbacks, getting the decision in the Brewers lopsided 17-3 victory.

Offensively, the Brewers are right behind the Phillies with a team batting average of .272. They lead the NL in runs scored with 186. The big bats so far have come from Ryan Braun (.359 average, 28 RBI, and six HR’s) and Casey McGehee (.323 average, 32 RBI, and seven HR’s.

Both teams have capable pitchers on the mound tonight, but the real story in this game is the offensive firepower coming out of both dugouts.

Each team knows how to score as they are both averaging close to six runs per game.

Take the Phillies bats over the Brewers as Ryan Howard is due for a big night.
