Forgetting how the final out was recorded the Red Sox did it again using one big blast to decide the game yesterday, in this case it was a three run homer off the bat of not even supposed to be in there Johnny Gomes – talk about building a legend.

Boston

Now they are going to try and really get a leg up on the Cardinals in game 5, which will feature the same pitching matchup as the opener.

That means the Red Sox are tapping Jon Lester again hoping for a similar performance to game one when he was superb.

I have to admit I got burned in the opener but I am still of the opinion that Lester, though talented, is hard to rely on because of consistency. Plus even if you think he is going to be great it is hard to know just how much he will pitch with this game being played by National League rules.

St. Louis

Cardinals fans are likely still in shock with how the final out was recorded last night.

Hopefully the team has gotten over it because they need to play well tonight to give them a chance of winning the series in Boston. With that in mind they turn to their ace Adam Wainwright, who was surprisingly bad in the opener though also let down by some defensive miscues.

I have to and want to believe that he can be better this time around but he is still going to need some support from the rest of the guys. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The only guys who got more than one hit in the opener was Matt Holliday who has been solid in this series. The real question is the health of Allan Craig. He is the Cards best hitter and came through in the pinch last night. Hard to say at this point whether he is healthy enough to start which hurts them against the lefty Lester.

The value on this one is on the St. Louis side I think. The Red Sox know they can take the series home regardless of the outcome of game 5.

It could mean that they are playing nice and loose but it could also mean that they don’t have the intensity they need. Boston has a great lineup but they have been so dependent on the big hit but they can’t possibly count on it each game. On the St. Louis side they should be laser focused and have their ace on the hill so what more could they ask for.

If Craig starts you might want to take the over but either way St. Louis is the play.

This team is too good to lose two straight games at home in a series like this one.

O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: St. Louis 4 – Boston 2
