The Padres have made themselves of the most dynamic teams following this off season. They wheeled and dealed their way to essentially a whole new team and even continue to deal a day before the seasons started by acquiring one of the best closers in the game.

They’ll try to get the ball to Craig Kimbrel this time around as they look to avenge their opening day loss. Los Angeles, who was boosted by a Jimmy Rollins 8th inning home run, will hand the ball to Zack Greinke in game 2.

San Diego

Things started off pretty well for the Padres on Monday. A first inning run off MVP and Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw is success itself. The Padres led against Kershaw 3-2 going into the 7th inning, only to fall in the end.

They’ll look to rebound as they send Tyson Ross to the mound, a pitcher who just can’t seem to get the run support necessary when he pitches against Los Angeles.

Ross is 0-4 in his career against the Dodgers, but brings in a 2.45 ERA against them. That has been a microcosm of what Ross has dealt with in San Diego. The righty has an ERA of just 2.89 over 47 starts the past two season, but his record is just 16-19.

Former Dodger Matt Kemp had a solid debut with his new team against his old teammates going 2 for 4 with 3 runs batted in.

Los Angeles

While San Diego stole the show this offseason, the Dodgers low key moved paid off in a big way on Monday. Offseason acquisition Jimmy Rollins was the key to a 6-3 win as he blasted a game breaking tie home run in the 8th inning. With the win, the Dodgers continue to roll at home against San Diego, winning 13 of their last 17 against them inside Dodger Stadium.

They’ll send Zack Greinke to the mound, who has dominated the Padres over time. Greinke brings in a 4-0 record with a 1.84 ERA against the Padres. He has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in a start against San Diego in his career.

Greinke will look to build on his 2014 success that saw him go 17-8 with a 2.71 ERA.

Expected to make his debut tonight against his old team will be C Yasmani Grandal. Grandal his .225 with 15 home runs in 2014 with San Diego.

Betting Trends:

  • Padres are 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games.
  • Padres are 16-6 in their last 22 during game 2 of a series.
  • Dodgers are 17-5 in their last 22 games as a home favorite.
  • Dodgers are 15-5 in their last 20 games vs. a right-handed starter.

Free 4* MLB Pick: San Diego +150

Grab the underdog here. Ross is a solid pitcher that has a lot of tough luck. With a retooled team, maybe he can get some run support this year?
