While the Mets search for their 5th straight win on the season, they’ll have to once again deal with the absence of David Wright. The third baseman was placed on the 15 day DL with a hamstring injury.

A win on Thursday would give the Mets their longest winning streak since the 2013 season. On the other side of things, Miami looks to build of their 2 straight wins that allowed them to clinch a series win over Atlanta.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins had high hopes for this 2015 season. Like many other teams have, they got off to the slow start everybody wanted to avoid. With that being said, the Marlins rebounded nicely taking the final 2 games in their series with Atlanta and now look to keep things rolling when they invade Citi Field to take on the Mets.

The Marlins will hand the ball to Jarred Cosart, who was the loser in his last outing, although he pitched pretty well. Cosart went 6 innings allowing just 1 run, but the offense could only supply 2 hits in the teams’ 2-0 loss to Tampa Bay.

Cosart will be seeing the Mets for just the 2nd time in his career, as he got a no decision back on Sept. 15, allowing just 2 runs in 6 innings. The Marlins did go on to win that game 6-5.

Miami will hope that Adeiny Hechavarria can continue his little hot spurt. Hechavarria is 7 for 11 over the past 3 games, and comes in off a three hit, three RBI game that saw him jack a home run.

This will be the Marlins 4th straight road game, as they are now 2-1 on the road.

New York Mets

The Mets are in the midst of one their most impressive stretches in over a year. Winners of 4 straight, New York looks to push it to 5 she they send Dillon Gee to the mound on Thursday.

Gee comes in after losing his first start of the season. The right hander went 5 and fly allowing 5 runs in the 5-3 loss to Atlanta. Gee has had success in his career against Miami going 3-1 with a 2.84 ERA. The last time he faced these Marlins, he did take the loss allowing 4 runs in a 4-3 decision.

Gee has a pretty impressive streak going as he has gone at least 5 innings in 47 straight starts.

With Wright out, the Mets will need to continue to find offensive production from different players. Lucas Duda has been one of those players the entire season as he 9 for 22 over his last 5 games, with 5 RBIs. He also has 4 doubles to his name in that span.

New York will look to stay undefeated at home as they bring in a 3-0 record at Citi Field. They swept away the Phillies Monday-Wednesday.
