The Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners get ready to open a 3 game west coast set at Safeco Field in Seattle on Monday night. Felix Hernandez will try to become the American League’s first 11 game winner when he opposes right hander Joe Blanton. Blanton returned to the hill for the first time in over year and threw a gem of a game in a route of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Royals have been cruising this season and continue to sit atop the AL Central. They’ll look to Joe Blanton to keep the momentum going on Monday night.
Blanton earned the victory in his first start since 2013 as he allowed just one run on five hits in five innings. The Royals signed Blanton and had him pitching out of the bullpen prior to giving him a spot chance in the rotation.

Hernandez threw an absolute gem against the Giants and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner as he went 8 scoreless innings, allowing just 4 hits in a 2-0 win.
The Mariners’ ace is 4-4 with a 2.80 ERA in 11 career appearances against the Royals.
Currently, Seattle sits 8.5 games out of the AL West leaders, Houston. In desperate need of some kind of spark, Seattle will need their offense to get going, especially at home. The Mariners average just 3.14 runs per home contest this season. That has led them to a 16-21 S.U. record inside Safeco Field.
