Tampa is hanging in there just behind the Yankees.

The question how much longer can they do so.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are moving up the coast to complete a 10 game road trip.
They just took the last two of their set against the Angels, and have won 4 of 6 so far to stay close with the Yankees.
You keep wondering when the other shoe is going to drop with this team but the division has been so mediocre maybe they can stay in it for most of the season.
This year’s team, per usual, is all about pitching.
Though their representative on the mound tonight is not the most inspiring.
Erasmo Ramirez wasn’t really part of the rotation plans for Tampa.

Sure he has experience from his days in Seattle but with Tampa he has not been any more consistent. He is coming off his best start with seven shutout innings against Baltimore.
Like a lot of mediocre pitchers he can look pretty good when he avoids walks and the long ball. That is key with Nelson Cruz on the other side.
Seattle
The Mariners made it to .500 but have proceeded to drop the last 5 games. As a result they are close to last than first in the AL West.
Needless to say things are not working out as hoped which has to be frustrating given free agent signee Nelson Cruz has worked out brilliantly.
His 18 homers have helped make the M’s one of the more powerful teams in the league but they are still just 29th in runs scored. Other than him the offense has been pretty terrible.
Roenis Elias has not been making all of his turns in the rotation but the M’s might want to think about changing that as they look for more from their staff.
Through seven starts he has a very respectable 3.07 ERA and he would probably have a better record if he was getting some support from the offense.

Unfortunately his last start of the season was his worst against Cleveland but this is still a favourable matchup.
