The Cardinals will look to break their losing streak to the Reds when they play Game 2 of three three-game series at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Cardinals

St. Louis has struggled against its National League Central Division rival, dropping three straight to the Reds over the past week and a half. Much different than the

Cardinals success over the Reds in past years.

That’s probably because the St. Louis has scored only two runs during the three-game losing streak to the Reds, both which came by way of a Matt Carpenter two-run homer
during Tuesday’s Game 1, 3-2 loss.

In order to turn things around, the Cardinals will hand the ball to youngster Carlos Martinez (11-4, 2.61 ERA), who will try and rebound from a terrible outing that

resulted in a no-decision against the Cubs his last time out. The right-hander only went five innings against Chicago, giving up a season-high 10 hits and five runs.

Martinez faced the Reds six two times in April, posting a 1-0 mark while giving up three runs and seven hits in 12 innings.

Reds

The Reds have owned the Cards this season and part of that is their ability to grab runs. Right fielder Jay Bruce has been key, and is hitting safely in six straight

games and nine of 10. He nailed a RBI double during Tuesday’s game, which no gives him 12 RBIs in his last eight outings.

Marlon Byrd has also fueled the Reds offense, and is 8-for-20 with a pair of homers and five RBIs in his past five games.

Cincinnati will try and maintain their dominance over the Cardinals by sending rookie David Holmberg (1-0, 3.00 ERA) to the mound in Game 2. The left hander notched his

first big league win in his MLB debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. He gave up only two runs on five hits over six innings. Holmberg faced the Cardinals

only once in his short MLB career, coughing up gave up a pair of home runs in a 2-1 loss in St. Louis last year.

4* MLB Betting Prediction: Cardinals -135

This one is tough with two pitchers who are struggling as of late. But I am going with the White Sox here, as Sales win drought comes to an end behind a red-hot lineup.
