There is no doubt that Shelby Miller is hoping Monday’s series opener is repeated Tuesday night. Atlanta busted out for 9 runs Monday night, which is more runs than Miller has seen this season. Miller has the worst run support in the National League and has seen himself go 0-7 over his last 13 games. On the flip side of things, Jake Peavy has been successful since his return from the disabled list and has severely given the Giants rotation a much needed boost.

Atlanta erased a 6 run deficit and walked off on a 12th inning 2 run homer from Adonis Garcia.

San Francisco Giants

Typically, hitting four home runs in a game equals out to a victory. Brandon Crawford (2), Brandon Belt, and Buster Posey all went yard in the series opener, but the Giants bullpen failed to hold the lead as San Francisco dropped a heartbreaker.

San Francisco’s M.O. this season has been 2 out hitting. The Giants have scored 205 runs with two outs, including 6 on Monday.

While the runs are coming in, the pitcher just hasn’t been there. Looking to reverse that fortune, Jake Peavy toes the rubber on Tuesday night.

[dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Peavy has pitched extremely well as of late as his ERA sat just 2.84 over his 5 starts in July. In Peavy’s last start he tossed 6 shutout innings against Milwaukee, but took a ND in his efforts.

Peavy defeated Arizona and Oakland to win his final two decisions of the month.

Atlanta Braves

Shelby Miller is easily the best 5-8 pitcher in quite some years in baseball. Miller’s season ERA sits at just 2.44, but has been a victim to his offense. The Braves’ offense has mustered just 26 runs in Millers’ last 13 outings leading him to an 0-7 record in that span.

In losing his 4th start in a row, Miller allowed 4 runs on 11 hits through 6 innings of work against Philadelphia last time out.

Atlanta has scored 2 runs or less in 7 of Millers’ starts this season.

He’s faced San Francisco once already this season giving up just a run on 5 hits through 7 innings of work. However, naturally his efforts went for nothing as Atlanta failed to score for him as he received the loss.

The Braves offense could receive an even bigger blow as 1B Freddie Freeman left the series opener with a right oblique injury. Also, SS Andrelton Simmons is a game time decision for Tuesday as he continues to battle a thumb injury.

MLB Betting Trends:

  • Giants are 7-2 in their last 9 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
  • Giants are 23-6 in their last 29 during game 2 of a series.
  • Giants are 10-4 in their last 14 Tuesday games.
  • Braves are 11-5 in their last 16 home games.
  • Braves are 3-9 in their last 12 overall.

4* MLB Betting Prediction: Giants ML

A bounce back is a must for San Francisco on Tuesday. With the way Atlanta hits for Shelby Miller, it has to become a mind game with their offense.

MLB Baseball Score Prediction: San Francisco 5- Atlanta 1

Same old story for Miller on Tuesday as he pitches well, but receives no run support in a losing effort.
