The New York Mets have struggled in their trips to Wrigley Field in recent years, and now they enter Wednesday looking to avoid a sixth consecutive loss in the third game of their series with the Cubs.

Chicago has won six of the Mets’ last seven series at Wrigley Field.

The Mets have scored three runs or fewer in 11 of their last 14 games, including a 6-1 loss on Tuesday. Cubs rookie phenom Kris Bryant has his power stroke going, homering in back-to-back games and three of his last four contests.

The Cubs brought up another rookie sensation in Addison Russell to help give the ball club some production at second base, and that move is paying off as well.

Russell has reached base in 15 straight games, and in 17 of his first 19 games with the big club.

The Mets send Matt Harvey out to the bump in this one. He’s recorded quality starts in five of his first six starts this season, and earned the decision in each of those contests.

He took a tough-luck loss in his last outing after winning each of his first five starts.

He’ll be opposed by Jason Hammel, who has put together three straight quality starts for the Cubs, and racked up a season-high eight strikeouts in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers.

FREE Mets vs. Cubs Pick:

The Mets have struggled to score in this venue, but they won’t need to score many to give Harvey his sixth win of the season.

Additionally, Hammel has given the Cubs solid outings on a regular basis since arriving in Chicago, and this day should be no different.

  • The Mets are 7-1 in their last eight games after allowing five runs or more in their previous game, and they are 36-15 in their last 51 games as a favorite.
