The Angles travel to the Emerald City to open up a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night at Safeco Field.
After a two-hour rain delay, the Angels (46-38) edged out a 3-2 win, on a ninth-inning RBI single from Johnny Giavotella. The win completed the sweep of their two-game series with Colorado.
Angels centerfielder Mike Trout clubbed his 121st and 122nd career homers Wednesday night and became just the ninth player to hit over 120 home runs before turning 24 years old. Trout now has a total of 24 on the year.
Meanwhile, Seattle (39-46) is coming off a 5-4 loss to Detroit on Wednesday at Safeco Field. The Tigers claimed two of three in the series.

It was a wild set as the Mariners and Tigers combined to hit 14 homers, the most during a three-game series in Safeco Field’s history.
Seattle had myriad chances during the game to win it, but finished 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position, and were without struggling first baseman Logan Morrison who was as out of the lineup despite being healthy. Over his last 20 games, Morrison is just 10-for-70 with three home runs and eight RBIs. In the meantime, new acquired Mark Trumbo made his second start for Seattle at first base after he got two hits on Tuesday.
The Angels will go with Garrett Richards in Game 1. The right-hander struck out six while holding the Rangers to one run on six hits over 7.2 innings in his last start. Richards, has rebounded nicely after failing to finish the first inning in a game against the Yankees a little over a month ago, and has allowed just eight runs in 35 innings since. He is 1-0 with a career 1.84 ERA versus the Mariners.
Host Seattle will counter with Felix Hernandez, who is winless in his last three outings, including a 2-0 loss at Oakland in his last turn. The right-hander gave up 10 hits despite allowing just two earned runs in seven innings, but little run support helped his cause. The 29-year-old is 2-0 against the Angels, with an ERA of .090 spanned over 20 innings.

The Angles are playing some of their best ball of the season, while Seattle is just trying to make it to the All-Star break without falling so far back as to have no chance of a second half comeback. Add to that the recent pitching of Richards, ands this one goes to the visitors.
