The Angels will try to get things back on track when the travel a few miles north on Friday night, to open a three-game series against the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine .

Star centerfielder Mike Trout returned to the Halos’ lineup on Thursday after missing two games due to a wrist injury, but went a disappointing 0-for-3 in a 3-0 loss.

Once again the Angels are two games behind the Astros in AL West, losing three straight and six of their last seven.

To try and turn things around, the Angels will go with first-time All-Star starter Hector Santiago (7-4, 2.43 ERA) in Game 1. The left-hander is 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA over his last six starts but received a no-decision against Texas his last time out.
Santiago has a 4.05 ERA in two career games against the Dodgers.
Dodgers
The Dodgers hold a half-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West, but aren’t taking any chances, as they bolstered their rotation and bullpen on Thursday, acquiring starters Matt Latos and Alex Wood, and relievers Luis Avilan and Jim Johnson.
And while Latos is expected to make his Dodgers’ debut in Sunday’s series finale, it will be three-time Cy Young award winner, Clayton Kershaw (8-6, 2.51 ERA) that will get the nod in Game 1.

The southpaw will aim to continue his 29-inning scoreless after posting his third straight victory last Thursday over the Mets, who were held to three hits in nine scoreless innings.
Kershaw, who leads the majors with 185 strikeouts, is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.76 in six career starts against the Halos.
