The Twins crushed Chicago 13-2 on Monday in the opener of the three-game set, improving to 5-0 at home against while outscoring the White Sox 44-10 this season.

Minnesota will now look to make it two wins in row when they take on Chicago in Game 2 on Tuesday night.

The White Sox (30-38), who have scored three or fewer runs in nine consecutive games, continued to struggle on Monday, with Adam LaRoche being their only soursce of offense, driving in two of his team’s three runs on two hits on Monday.

LaRoche will look to improve his recent streak, against Minnesota starter Mike Pelfrey who he is 11-for-16 with a homer and seven RBIs.

Pelfrey has been pitching lights of late however, allowing no more than two runs in five of his last six turns. The right-hander allowed only a single run in his last outing against the Cardinals, and will be looking for his first win (0-3 ) in seven career appearances against Chicago.

Pelfrey has a 6.48 ERA in two no-decisions this season versus the White Sox.

Meanwhile, Minnesota (37-32) has finally gotten what they paid for from heralded center fielder Byron Buxton who went 3-for-5 with three runs scored in Game 1. It was his best performance in nine games, after going 3-for-25 over his first eight games in the major leagues.

[dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He will likely be inserted back into the leadoff spot in the Twins line up to face off against right-hander Jeff who is winless over his last five starts, His last win came on May 22, against Minnesota however, in a game which he surrendered just two runs and three hits over eight innings.

Samardzija is 2-1 with a 5.84 ERA in four career outings against the Twins.

He will no doubt want to rebound from a tough no-decision against Pittsburgh in his last outing, when he gave up two runs and 10 hits over seven frames.

Matt’s Free 4* Prediction

Twins — The Twins will have their work cut out against Samardzija, but without any run support coming from the White Sox, I expect the home team to win this one.
