I just like that it plays closer to the real thing than any other of its kind.

American League

Normally the American League seems to have a huge edge in terms of power but that might not be the case this season. They are without top hitter Miguel Cabrera due to injury and the Royals Renaissance doesn’t exactly add a ton of pop.

Lucky for the AL Albert Pujols has really found his power stroke this season. He and Mike Trout are going to be a formidable duo but once the reserves come in it is hard to get too afraid of the likes of Brock Holt and Brett Gardner.

On the hill there is no doubt that Dallas Keuchel deserves to start for the AL. He may not dominate in terms of strikeouts but he has been the most consistent among the elite, er new elite hurlers in the AL.

It is hard to know what you are going to get from other starters sometimes because of the game format but the AL is loaded with killer relievers including Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrera, two Royals who actually deserve it.

National League

This year the NL is packing some serious power and that is without the services of top slugger Giancarlo Stanton – which is a shame. Paul Goldschmidt is one of the most underrated players in the game and Todd Frazier and Bryce Harper can certainly bring the lumber.

Unlike in the AL there is not as much craziness in the voting as the likes of catcher Buster Posey more than deserve the nod. The reserves look a little light though, similar to the AL. Maybe there is a bit of a changing of the guard.

Nobody is pitching better than Zack Greinke right now. He has been awesome the whole first half and leads an NL Staff that would be a monster if this was a seven game series. Since it isn’t I worry about the bullpen they have assembled.

Led by Aroldis Chapman I have no gripes about the selections but there is not much to fear about Mark Melancon and Francisco Rodriguez.

Jonathan Papelbon is way past his prime.

MLB Betting Prediction:  American League +105

When it comes to All-Star games I always either bet the underdog, you have to go for value in a meaningless game, or the over.

MLB Score Prediction:  American League 5 – National League 4

And I always bet a tiny amount. Don’t get too caught up in these things.
