Three seasons have passed since the Dodgers have made the postseason, and now they return after turning their season around with a stretch of 42 wins in 50 games.

They will look to continue to ride the offensive explosion of shortstop Hanley Ramirez, outfielder Yasiel Puig and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez — who blasted a two-run homer in the series opener on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Atlanta’s most consistent bat belongs to first baseman Freddie Freeman, who will be supported by third baseman Chris Johnson and outfielder Justin Upton who went 0-for-1 in Game 1.

Freeman went 1-for-4.

The Dodgers seemed to be unaffected by the absence of outfielder Matt Kemp who will miss the postseason with an ankle injury. Instead they got some help from A.J. Ellis, who doubled twice and drove in a run as the Dodgers racked up 11 hits on Thursday.

In Game 2, the Braves will try to slow down the Dodgers offense by sending lefty Mike Minor to the mound. Minor went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts against Los Angeles this year, limiting the Dodgers to a .205 average with 15 strikeouts over 12 innings.

LA will counter with right-hander Zack Greinke who posted a 1.58 ERA in 12 starts since July 30. Greinke faced the Braves onlu once this year, giving up just four hits in seven innings of a 5-0 victory June 6.

Matt’s Free Prediction:

Dodgers – The Braves won the season series 5-2, but all before the Dodgers really got busy.

The Dodgers looked good on Thursday and I expect more of the same in Game 2, at LA jumps out to  2-0 series lead.

Dodgers 5, Braves 3
