The Arizona Diamondbacks head to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for a three game series with the Phillies starting tonight with Game 1 at 7:05 P.M.

Arizona’s slide to the deep bottom of the NL West continues as the D-Backs have lost seven out of their last 10 and four straight to fall to 37-62 on the year, 22 games out of first. They are 13-33 SU on the road and 20-46 ATS as an underdog. Against the over/under line they have gone 58-37-4 with the total going over in four of their last six road games.

Right hander Rodrigo Lopez will be on the mound tonight for the Diamondbacks. In 20 previous starts he is 5-9 with an ERA of 4.58. In his last outing he pitched seven innings against San Francisco, giving up five hits and three earned runs getting tagged for the loss. Lifetime against the Phillies, Lopez is 1-1 with a 6.27 ERA.

Arizona’s offensive production has been inconsistent at best as the team is ranked 13th in the NL with a batting average of .253 and ranked eighth in the league in runs scored with 444. They do have three players in the lineup with sixty or more RBI’s led by Chris Young’s 63. Mark Reynolds leads the team with 23 homeruns.

After sweeping Colorado in four straight games this past weekend, Philadelphia has now won five in a row and at 53-46 are back to within 4 ½ games of the first place Braves in the NL East. The Phillies are 31-18 SU at home and 38-31 ATS as the favorite. They have gone 45-52-2 against the over/under line with the total staying under in four of their last six games at home.

Cole Hammels will get the start tonight for the Phillies. The left hander is 7-7 with a 3.4 ERA in 20 starts this season. In his last game he pitched eight strong innings, giving up just one hit and no earned runs, but did not get the decision against the Cardinals. Against Arizona in his career Hammels is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA.

Despite missing some key players in the lineup the Phillies’ bats are starting to come back to life. They have a team batting average of .256, ranking them 11th in the NL, but are ranked fourth in the league in runs scored with 462. Ryan Howard continues to lead the way for the club with 117 hits, 78 RBI’s, and 22 HR’s.

The past trends favor Philadelphia in this one as it has won seven of its last 10 against Arizona, including going 5-1 SU in the last six games played at home. Hammels looked sharp his last time out and should be able to carry that momentum into tonight’s game to keep the Phillies winning streak alive.
