The Chicago Cubs come into Wednesday’s contest in an unfamiliar territory. They come in off a home loss, which is something they haven’t done in over 2 weeks.
The Cubs will try and earn a split in this short 2 game inter league series against Tigers when they send LH Jon Lester to the mound on Wednesday. The Tigers won the offensive shootout Tuesday in 10-8 fashion after blowing a big lead, only to recover and win late.

Countering Jon Lester, the Tigers will go with LH Daniel Norris, who was a deadline acquisition for Detroit.
Both the Tigers and Cubs are in the midst of Wild Card races in their respective leagues.
Detroit Tigers
Detroit’s pitching has been the main problem all season long. They’ve continued to get inconsistent starts and allow a lot of runs.
They rushed out of the gate quickly on Tuesday, then a rain delay forced them to turn it into a bullpen game, another weakness of their team. The bullpen coughed up the lead, but the offense bailed them out as the Tigers got a big win.
Currently, Detroit sits 4.5 games out behind 2nd place Los Angeles, but has a good amount of teams to jump still.
Trying to grab a quick 2 game sweep, the Tigers go with LH Daniel Norris.

Norris, who was acquired at the deadline in the David Price deal was dominant in his Tigers debut against the Orioles.
However, over his last two outings, Norris has allowed 8 earned runs in just 9.2 innings of work. Norris will making his first start at Wrigley Field and only has 1 inning of relief work under his belt against the Cubs.
2B Ian Kinser continues his tear in August as he is hitting .393 in the month and is coming off a 5-5 day on Tuesday.

Even with their loss on Tuesday, the Cubs still sit 3.0 games up on the Giants in the Wild Card race. Currently, the Cubs hold the 2nd spot and sit behind divisional foe Pittsburgh for the 1st overall spot.
The Cubs will continue this home stand for 6 more games, which will give them a great chance to extend their Wild Card lead and even close the gap on the Cardinals. Inside Wrigley this season, Chicago is 34-25 S.U.
