Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants Gambling Prediction & MLB Preview

Colorado Rockies (5-2) vs San Francisco Giants (4-3)

The story of the Rockies is always an interesting one. It seems like whoever they put in the lineup they get good offensive production and right now they are leading the league with a .317 average.

Tuesday April 9
AT&T Park – San Francisco, CA
10:15PM
Probable Starters:
COL: Juan Nicasio (R)
SF: Tim Lincecum (R)
Moneyline: San Francisco -140, Colorado +130
O/U: 7

Colorado

Outfielders Dexter Fowler and Michael Cuddyer have been leading the way as pleasant surprises in the early going. Cuddyer is hitting close to .500 and Fowler has already gone yard 4 times this season. So far the pitching has held up with an ERA in the top third of the Majors.

Tuesday’s starter Juan NIcasio has some talent and maybe this year it will finally blossom. Last year he struck out nearly a batter an inning but his hit rate went up. His first start of the season at Milwaukee was solid but not great. Most importantly he gave the offense a chance to win the game. He has one career start at AT&T and against the Giants – nothing great and nothing disastrous so not much to go on.

San Francisco

It’s early but the Giants are looking up at three teams in the National League West standings, the Rockies being one of them. They beat Colorado in the series opener behind Hunter Pence’s big blast and are again executing the strategy of relying on top pitching and scoring just enough to win. Through 7 games they have yet to score more than 5 runs in a ballgame which means they have to alway be really sharp on the mound. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

San Francisco is hoping for a return to form this year from Tim Lincecum. In his first start he gave up no earned runs and got the win but giving up 7 walks over 5 innings was very discouraging. His splits show no huge difference home vs road but he usually gets off to good starts in the spring – ERA under 3 for April career. If he can command his stuff better it will be a good sign long term as well as for the Giants tonight.

O/U Pick: Over

Score Prediction: Colorado 7 – San Francisco 4

Odds are that Tim Lincecum may never return to the predictable dominant force that he was which makes him a fantastic fade candidate. His name recognition takes away from the value on the Giants side of things and his performance combined with their offense makes for great value on the side of their opponents. I wouldn’t fade him blindly but I would closely at those opportunities.
