Chicago
Wednesday they will look to close out the series and get to .500 with another win. Slugger Jose Abreu is on the shelf right now but so far the offense has kept rolling without him.
Former stalwart 1B Paul Konerko is now going to be in the lineup more regularly and even though he went yard on Monday he has not looked good this season. Chicago has no choice but to keep trying to slug away to victory.
Quality pitching has been hard to find for the White Sox this season.

With Chris Sale out Jose Quintana has been their best starter leading the team in ERA and WHIP – he has pitched much better than his 2-3 record suggests. He has had more than one high quality outings like when he struck out 10 Tigers over 6 innings last month.

There is a lot of pressure on him with the rest of the rotation in shambles.
Kansas City
Over the course of the last two games the Royals pitching has let them down.
This team is struggling to score runs and the last couple of games represent the first times they have scored that many runs and lost a game all season. Their biggest problem offensively is the lack of punch in the lineup.
Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler have only one home run a piece.
They can certainly play small ball with some of their speed players without their sluggers slugging they have to really bunch hits together.
Jeremy Guthrie is again eating innings for Kansas City as they try and get into the race in the AL Central. He is coming off an 8IP loss to Baltimore, his longest outing of the season with 116 pitches thrown.
There is no need to worry about overuse when it comes to Guthrie but there is need to worry about support as it has been pretty sporadic this season.
He almost never dominates but he keeps his team in the game.
That predicted score might be a little tongue in cheek but I expect there to be some runs scored again in this one and the White Sox to emerge on top. They are a small dog but they are likely one of the best values on the board.
They are playing well and you can ride them a little longer.
Total prediction: Over
Score prediction: Chicago 7 – Kansas City 6
